A group from the PHTL General Qualification for University Entrance class has studied the challenging mathematics of spherical geometry and the optical imaging properties of camera systems and has successfully implemented in a measuring system.
We monitor the weather with our ONYX weather station: We measure wind, temperature, humidity and radiation to optimise the effect of our sun protection products on the interior in the best possible way. We control the effect of the fascinating sunlight in the room and on people. Now, we also map the sky and measure where, for example, mountains or neighbouring houses block the sun. This way, the sun protection system can be adapted even better and surprisingly easily to human needs. The time at which the sun disappears behind a neighbouring house, for example, can thus be recorded even more precisely. This allows the natural dynamics of the outdoors to be experienced even indoors, without any delay. At the same time, this shading also plays an important role in the energy budget of the building. Because if the sun is blocked by the neighbouring building in the afternoon, it can heat for a longer duration in the morning, for free. Free, passive solar heating is, actually, the most environmentally friendly.
