For HELLA, a company based in Abfaltersbach, cooperation with HTL Lienz has become a regular feature in the implementation of interesting projects. Despite the exceptional circumstances this spring, two projects in the area of quality testing were successfully implemented in the course of the final theses.
In the ongoing production process, a roller blind slat is checked for faulty spots before it is released for packaging after production. These are indicated by clearly visible light gaps on the closed slat. In the course of the "Smart Light Spy" project, a new, semi-automated inspection unit was developed by the graduates for the quality inspection, which had previously been carried out manually. For this purpose, a so-called surface portal was used, with which the entire surface of a roller shutter curtain can be automatically moved up and down and inspected. This procedure makes it possible to detect translucent areas by means of a high-precision sensor system. By connecting a control system, movement commands can be forwarded to the surface portal and the evaluation can be displayed graphically. Through the use of this measuring system, the high quality requirements are monitored at the same time.
The second project "End-of-line test device for ONYX.CENTER 2" also focused on quality testing. This test adapter will be used for final testing of the next generation of HELLA's ONYX.CENTER box. Such "end-of-line" test devices are located at the very end of a production line and ensure the required quality of the product. In cooperation with the HTL-Lienz project group, the mechanical assembly required for this was developed. One of the challenges in this project was to design the test device in a user-friendly way and yet offer all the functionalities so that all the necessary tests can be carried out.
